CySEC fines Titanedge Securities €100,000 over client information and unlicensed advice
Cyprus's regulator has fined the investment firm for misleading client information, giving investment advice without authorisation and lacking adequate compliance procedures in 2023 and 2024.
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) announced on 16 October that it has fined Titanedge Securities Ltd, a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF), a total of €100,000 for breaches of the country’s Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law of 2017.
Three breaches, three fines
According to the board decision, CySEC’s board reached its decision at meetings on 13 October 2025 and 20 July 2026. The fine has three parts:
- €40,000 because the firm did not make sure that all the information it gave clients and potential clients, including marketing communications, was fair, clear and not misleading. This breach covers 24 December 2023 to 24 May 2024.
- €30,000 because the firm gave investment advice as a regular occupation without first obtaining CySEC’s authorisation to do so.
- €30,000 because the firm did not set up adequate policies and procedures to ensure it complied with its obligations under the law, a condition of its authorisation.
The last two breaches cover the whole of 2023 and 2024.
In setting the fine, CySEC said it took into account the importance of appropriate policies and procedures at an investment firm and the need to protect the investing public and the firm’s clients. It added that, during the period, the firm did not ensure the protection of its clients’ interests or operate within the scope of its licence.
What it means for traders
The case turns on two points traders can check for themselves. A firm’s licence lists the services it may provide, and investment advice is a separate service that needs its own authorisation. Marketing must also be fair, clear and not misleading. Our guide on how to check a broker licence explains how to look up a firm’s authorisations on a regulator’s register.
What happens next
CySEC said that its press release is for information only and does not replace the board’s decision, and that the full reasons are in the Greek text of the announcement.
